Be Free Leadership Pathway

Group Fitness Instructor Standards

At Be Free Fitness, leadership is not something you apply for β€” it’s something you grow into.

Our instructors are more than fitness professionals. They are culture carriers, space holders, and trusted guides for women at every stage of their journey. Because of this, our leadership pathway is intentionally designed to prioritize character, consistency, humility, and alignment over resumes or past titles.

Our Philosophy on Leadership

We believe the most impactful instructors are those who:

  • Lead with service, not ego

  • Are committed to growth and feedback

  • Value people over performance

  • Understand the responsibility of holding space for women

For this reason, Be Free primarily grows leaders from within our community.

Leadership Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for a Group Fitness Instructor role at Be Free Fitness, candidates must meet the following foundational criteria:

βœ” Community & Alignment

  • Active member of Be Free Fitness for a minimum of 1 year

  • Demonstrated alignment with Be Free’s values, culture, and community standards

  • Consistent participation and presence within the studio

βœ” Education & Training

  • Successful completion of Be Free Academy: Foundational Instructor Training (Level 1)

  • Current CPR & AED Certification

βœ” Assessment Process

  • Teach a mock class demonstrating readiness, coachability, and presence

  • Pass a final audition, evaluated on:

    • Movement safety

    • Cueing and clarity

    • Leadership presence

    • Energy regulation

    • Cultural alignment

Commitment Expectations

Leadership at Be Free is a commitment β€” to the studio, the members, and the mission.

All instructors are expected to:

  • Teach a minimum of 1 class per week

  • Commit to at least 6 months of consistent teaching

  • Participate in ongoing feedback, mentorship, and growth opportunities

  • Uphold Be Free policies, boundaries, and community standards at all times

A Note on External Experience

While we honor outside experience and certifications, prior teaching experience does not automatically qualify someone for a leadership role at Be Free.

Any instructor joining from outside the Be Free community must be willing to:

  • Learn and teach the Be Free way

  • Release attachment to previous studio cultures or methods

  • Enter a probationary or apprentice phase

  • Demonstrate humility, openness, and respect for established leadership

Be Free is not a performance stage or personal platform.
It is a shared space built on trust, safety, and service.

What This Pathway Is β€” and Is Not

This pathway IS for women who:

  • Feel called to lead through fitness

  • Are willing to learn, grow, and receive feedback

  • Value collaboration and community

  • Desire to serve something bigger than themselves

This pathway is NOT for women who:

  • Seek authority without accountability

  • Resist structure, boundaries, or feedback

  • Prioritize personal recognition over collective culture

  • Expect leadership without relational investment

Final Note

Leadership at Be Free is earned, not rushed.

We are deeply committed to protecting the emotional, physical, and relational safety of our community β€” and we take the responsibility of choosing leaders seriously.

If this pathway resonates with you, we invite you to take the next step with intention.
